The start point of any print process. Why you need colour management, from screen calibration to viewing conditions to our perception of colour – real life control and understanding of your colour environment, at a manageable level.
The Capture Image:
Capture is always the foundation stone of a successful print. In-depth examination of RAW capture, understanding digital exposure, reading the histogram, the flexibility of RAW processing, what to trust and what to ignore, a few myths unmasked and a few home truths.
Moving into Photoshop:
Like any software, PhotoShop must be set up to operate properly and is a cornerstone of accurate print workflow. Creating your Custom colour settings, understanding working colour spaces and the differences and uses of common RGB colour spaces. Rendering intent explained, and why you need to know about it. Soft Proofing and a predictable print process, understanding the capability of different media.

File preparation:
The truth about file resolution and print resolution – their relationship explained. How it affects your print. Using Un-Sharp Mask, the options examined and the approaches to avoid. File sizing and ways to enlarge your files. The difference between capture sharpness and output sharpness, and judging what's right for your print. How colour spaces play a part in file preparation.
